Please Note A fecal egg count captures a momentary snapshot of the parasite activity within the body. The test detects eggs from mature parasites that release them into the dog’s stool. However, if the parasites are still immature and not yet producing eggs, or if the egg count is very low at the time of testing, the infection might not be detected, resulting in a negative result. Although these occurrences are uncommon, it’s important to be aware of these possibilities. All POOZ kits contain a Tracked 48, Prepaid returns envelope. Kits can be posted in a standard letterbox, saving you the trip to a post office.

Dog & Cat Giardia Antigen Rapid Test

Giardia Antigen Performance Characteristics:
  • Relative sensitivity: 95.12%
  • Relative specificity: 95.87%
  • All kits include prepaid return postage.
The Giardia Antigen Kit is highly accurate and ideal for quickly identifying Giardia in pets. It’s simple to use and comes with full instructions. If you suspect your dog or cat, especially if they are young or elderly, may have Giardia, we recommend purchasing this kit and testing as soon as possible. A “how-to-use” video is also available on our Facebook page. Common Signs of Giardia in Dogs:
  • Weight loss
  • Chronic, intermittent diarrhea
  • Fatty stool
  • Stool consistency ranging from soft to watery
  • Excess mucus in the stool
  • Vomiting in some cases
Not every dog or cat will exhibit all symptoms of Giardia, so it’s important to test if you suspect an infection. Instructions for Use:
  1. Hold the red part of the tube and twist it counterclockwise to remove the red end (containing the white tip).
  2. Insert the white tip into the stool and rotate 3-4 times to collect the sample.
  3. Replace the red part of the tube and twist clockwise to lock it in place.
  4. Place the tube into the bubble wrap bag and seal it.
  5. Complete the information form.
  6. Place the sealed bubble wrap bag and the completed leaflet into the prepaid return envelope.
  7. Drop it into a standard letterbox.
Please Note: A fecal egg count provides a snapshot of the parasite load at a specific time. It detects the eggs of mature parasites that shed their eggs into the dog’s stool. However, if the parasites are too immature to produce eggs, or if egg shedding is minimal at the time of testing, the infection may not be detected, resulting in a negative result. While this is rare, it is a possibility. Taking Your Samples:
  • Intestinal Worm Sample: 1 sample (1 x pot).
  • Pooled Puppy Kits: Include 3 sample pots, requiring 1 sample per day over 3 consecutive days.
  • Lungworm: 3 samples (3 x pots), one collected daily for 3 consecutive days.
Samples can be taken at any time of day, though the first stool of the day is recommended. If collecting over three days for lungworm, keep samples in a cool place (refrigeration not required). Kit Instructions:
  1. Use the gloves provided to place your sample(s) into the sample pot(s).
  2. Place the sample pot(s) into the clear, leak-proof bag and seal it. Be sure to write your dog’s name on the bag.
  3. Put the sealed sample(s) into the box, along with your completed information leaflet, and close the lid.
  4. Seal the box with the provided security seal.
  5. Drop the box into a standard letterbox for return.

Important Note: A fecal egg count is a snapshot of parasite activity at a specific time. The test detects the eggs of mature parasites that shed their eggs into the stool. If the parasites are too immature to produce eggs or if egg shedding is minimal during testing, the infection may not be detected, resulting in a negative result. While this is rare, it’s important to consider the possibility. Collecting Your Samples:
