Description
Avian Influenza is a contagious viral infection which can affect all species of birds. Young fattening turkeys and laying hens are usually the most affected species. Free-living birds tend to act as primary introduction of infection into domestic poultry and free-living birds can carry these viruses without becoming ill due to natural resistance.
The main symptoms are:-
•Depression
•Loss of appetite
•Cessation of egg laying
•Nervous signs
•Swelling and blue discolouration of combs and wattles due to the disturbance of blood circulation
•Coughing
•Sneezing
•Diarrhoea
